The Guildhall and its Ghosts
Five ghosts haunt Leicester’s ancient Guildhall. After Henry VIII banned guilds, the hall was used for council meetings, court hearings, police cells, lavish banquets, plays. They say that Shakespeare was a visitor. Could one of the ghosts be Hamlet’s father?
A quadragintal is a blog of exactly 40 words.

The cells are open to the public and well worth a visit.

... or are you too scared?!!!
Tomorrow (Saturday) is my blogging day off. I will be posting up 'H' on Sunday. Have a great weekend.
Very interesting post. First, I didn't realize their was a name for a blog of 40 words. I use to read a blog by a guy who wanted to say what he wanted to say in 20 words. I have found one in this challenge who uses 18 words. Maybe I use too many? I will have to look into that.
ReplyDeleteI don't believe there are such things as ghosts and such, so I don't think anything is haunted. However, this was an interesting piece since I have never heard of Guildhall.

I enjoy stories of ghosts like this. My Ghost Writers post today include a picture of Hamlet and his father's ghost.
ReplyDeleteGhosts, how fun. Reading this I miss England where I lived for a few years as a young woman.--Inger
ReplyDeleteThere so many interesting places to visit in the UK. This one sounds worthy of a visit for sure.

Oooh spooky. If Shakespeare's ghost is in there do you think he would help me get published?
ReplyDeleteI do normally respond to comments when possible but this month it's so hard to get round everybody's A to Z blogs that I haven't had the chance so apologies for that but I must just make one comment to Gregg.
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for the visit and I'm sorry if the word quadragintal has confused you. It has only existed for the last 8 days because I created it, with the help of my blogger friend Alison Bacon, specifically for this blog challenge.
I think this is my favorite post yet. I love ghost stories! That gibbet really creeps me out too, yikes.
ReplyDeleteVery creepy and the photos are amazing. I love a scary story!
ReplyDeleteYikes! I am a little scared. This isn't one of those 'find the missing item" and get a screaming ghoul in your face things, is it?
ReplyDeletelove your post. Very interesting. tried to watch the video but it wouldn't go. perhaps I'll try again later.
ReplyDeletethank you for your visit and comment at my place!
Such a cool history!! Great G!
ReplyDeleteI don't believe in ghosts.
ReplyDeleteBut your posts bring back memories of my UK adventures (from longer ago than I care to admit).

I read this yesterday but didn't comment because I got called away. I'm a big huge fan of ghosts. Just kind of a spooky person I guess. I'm enjoying your historical posts. Manzanita
