A to Z of Leicester: S is for...

Space Centre

Leicester is home to the amazing National Space Centre. There are over 150 interactive exhibits including simulated space flights. This month's Gagarin 50 Exhibition offers cosmonaut training and a chance to blast off in Vostok 1. How cool is that!

A quadragintal is a blog of exactly 40 words.

The famous rocket tower which is 42 metres high.

  1. That's pretty cool! It looks like a space rocket doesn't it? Have you been inside?

  2. I've learnt so much about your wonderful city with your super Blogs...! x

  3. Now that's somewhere I must visit next time I'm in Leicester.

  4. That's an unusual looking building. Why does it remind me of a bee hive? Must be busy little bees in there :)

  5. Cosmonaut training: sounds interesting! :-)

  6. Ros, You can imagine my surprise when, while researching for an article I was writing about the new planetarium in the Eretz Israel Museum in Tel Aviv, I discovered that the main design was copied / lent from the Nat Space Centre in Leicester which I had until then never even heard of.
Of course I went and checked it out online then and it looks a remarkable place.
