From The Clock Tower to Curve (without a The)
The Clock Tower used to be Leicester’s iconic image. Intricately carved with statues of respected City elders, it stood where all roads met. Now the road is traffic free and there are new icons like Curve, Leicester’s curvaceous new theatre.

Thanks for your comments. To everyone who's asked about Curve. It's opposite what used to be the big old Odean Cinema on Rutland Street. The name was chosen by local people in a poll, it's extremely difficult to say Curve and not add the 'The' and I'm afraid I don't know how many it seats but it's a large theatre receiving professional touring productions and all the seats have an excellent view.

ReplyDeleteI was going to say something about a thousand....like, what's the word for that or make one up..... funny. But you could have fooled me because I'm not a writer, I'm a writer groupie.
Classical Spanish..... I'm impressed. Takes a lotta practice. I have a Flamenco guitar crying in my closet that I said I'd learn to play when I got old. Ha. I'm old and it's still crying.
I can hardly wait to see tomorrow's word :)

Enjoyed the entries so far. The photos are nice to see. And I know what you mean about the nerves the come with radio and TV interviews. I guess if you did it all the time it would come more easily, but the times I've done them it has always felt so awkward though people have told me it sounded fine. Looking forward to more scenes from Leicester.

It was the Bovril sign that caught my eye. Loved it. I also used to love "Yes Minister" on the telly years ago.
ReplyDeleteClock towers have always fascinated me. They are a little haunting to me I guess. Like they hold the mysteries of the town from years of standing guard.
