I’ve blogged on and on about it for the last two years. I
can’t not blog on about it this year, now can I? You might think I’d managed to ‘get
myself a life’ and that would never do!
I’m talking about Strictly Come Dancing, of course. [For those
in America it’s like Dancing With The Stars] and here's the glitter ball again which I've dusted off from my 2010 blog post aptly named Why I'm Obsessed with Strictly Come Dancing.
For the last three months I’ve watched every Saturday extravaganza
and every Sunday results programme. I’ve even watched
Strictly It Takes Two every weekday evening. I’ve loved every dance, every
interview, every bit of back-stage gossip and now that it’s over, I’m bereft. The programme becomes so much a part of my life for three months each year that I’m at a loss when it’s
finished.

So, now it’s all over, what am I going to do with myself?

hahaha. Oh honestly!! There is LIFE beyond Strictly! You Will recover your equilibrium and discover new things to do. I coped when Borgen finished. (Just).

DeleteI've been with it almost from the start and I've watched every minute this year but I'm afraid the 2012 result has put me right off. The guy obviously has a fit body and there's no doubt that he's a talented gymnast, but all of his routines relied on exactly that - gymnastics. It wasn't dancing. Kimberley danced him off the floor, and Denise's showdance had me breathless - but it seems Louis got his trophy for taking his shirt off.

I was happy with the result. Kimberley and Denise had more basic dancing skills than Louis when they began and so, to use that corny word, Louis has been on a bigger 'journey'.
DeleteToo funny! I hate when my favourite shows end too - especially if the series is over. Two of my favourites finished up their series this year :( Hopefully there's a new season to look forward to!

DeleteI love Strictly too but didn't agree with the result,Kimberly or Denise should have won but I realise that they are used to the stage and Louis isn't. Are you going to see them on tour? I went to see Dancing on Ice which I love just as much and it was great. Hubby has refused to go to watch Strictly on tour with me,if we just lived nearer each other we could have a great night. It's also on on Christmas Day.

ReplyDeleteI have bright news for you..... there is life after Strictly Dancing (I forgot what yours is called). I was so hooked on DWTS for years and suddenly this last season, I just didn't want to watch it anymore. I wouldn't even turn it on. Surprised the heck out of me! See..... there is hope. :)
ReplyDeleteWe haven't got British telly so I've rarely even seen it, though I know people who are as addicted as you. They are also the ones who watch Britain's Got Talent and similar stuff!
ReplyDeleteHi Ros .. I love seeing Strictly - but not all the time ... but this year was fun - and I too am a Louis fan .. so pleased he was able to win - he's achieved so much considering so much ... that I'm very pleased for him ...

I hardly watch TV anymore as Dutch TV is not very good, but I well remember that sense of loss when things like my favourite detective series finished for the season. It's hard to adjust to life without them - that something to look forward to every week, but then something else comes along to distract you and hey presto, it's time for the series to start again!
