Even though my first three books were listed on Amazon, this is my first real working relationship with the company and so I have been spending a bit of time mulling over the setting up and wording of my Author Page which you can view here. It is still a work-in-progress. I have been browsing other Author Pages and making improvements to mine as they occur to me. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.
My next task is to get the book reviewed by a national newspaper. I have a few ideas how I might go about this but, again, any suggestions would be very welcome.
Weather Report:
They have forecast snow and I suspect that people are stockpiling tins of food even as I type! We're not very good in the UK when it comes to snow. Of course, no one likes it when neither feet nor car wheels can 'make purchase' but the excitement that it generates is sometimes verging on the farcical. It is guaranteed to make the news headlines. Reporters are sent to snowy streets to show us what it looks like. We are treated to aerial shots of white fields and action movies of children on makeshift sledges.
What makes this kind of reporting all the more amusing is that bad weather happens every year. It's winter! So wrap up warm, be careful how you go and don't let the snow hype get you down.
congrats on being on Amazon.. That shall enlarge your audience for sales. As for snow - I'm like a kid again - it's rather magical. Bundle up and be careful, though.

ReplyDeleteBrits do seem to panic about weather etc. but surely everyone has rice or lentils in the cupboard and something in the freezer?
My theory is that most of us have the ingredients for at least ten meals in our cupboards, freezers etc. There's no need to panic at all but apparently people do.

ReplyDeleteI don't think excitement about snow is any greater in Britain than it is here in Jerusalem. And we have the added factor of people trying to get here to see it, because it never snows where they live. So far this winter, the promised snow hasn't really materialised. Personally, I hope it stays that way.

ReplyDeleteSnow? We get it here so rarely, if weather prognosticators even say the word, everybody immediately storms the grocery stores to clear the shelves of milk and bread. It a city-wide phenomenon. Heck, sometimes that dreaded word "snow" is enough to get school canceled. It doesn't have to drop a flake... just the slimmest chance will do it. Nuts!
I'll let you into a secret, Susan. When I was full-time teaching I used to long for snow to get an extra day off school. Isn't that bad of me!!

DeleteDON`T PANIC-as famously said in "Dad`s Army" and "Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy"Snow-what snow?However my freezer is full to the brim and lots of basics in stock.This is just in case my achilles tendon does not heal properly and have to have an operation.The last time I did panic was in the "cold war" Lots of tinned food,bottled tap water, dried food etc.Enough for 1 month. This was in a small room under the stairs where family would go for protection. Petra.
ReplyDeleteMe? Panic? Never!! I can remember the Cold War and the fear it generated but I suspect a cupboard under the stairs wouldn't have provided much security had the worst happened.
