Z Song Lyrics - A to Z Challenge

 Last but not least...

It's songs beginning with Z
And there's just the one lyric snippet to send you off smiling!

1960s:           Zippedy Doo Dah - Bob B Soxx and the Blue Jeans

1970s:          Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie [Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with weird and gilly...]

1980s:           Zoom - Fat Larrie's Band [...just one look and then my heart went boom, suddenly and we were on the moon...]

1990s:           Zombie - The Cranberries [...in your head, in your head...]

I could have said lots more things about lots more song lyrics but I'm going to let Bob B Soxx end this extravaganza on a really happy note...

Zippedy Doo Dah

This was originally recorded for a 1946 Disney film called Song of the South. Phil Spector produced this Bob B Soxx rhythm and blues version.

'Zippedy Doo Dah
Zippedy A
My oh my what a wonderful day.
Plenty of sunshine heading my way.

Zippedy Doo Dah
Zippedy A...'

You now have to imagine a cartoon version of me skipping out of shot with bluebirds encircling my head...

Done it! Woohoo!

I'd like to thank everyone who visited my A to Z this year and a really big thanks to all those who commented. It's been a great month. See you in May.

  4. Yeah! We're finished! I've loved your A-Z Roz. What a great feel good song Zippedy doo Dah is. I never had a grandpa and always wanted Burl Ives to be mine he was so nice in that film.
Here's to a wee rest after our busy month.

  13. I was wondering what you would come up with for Z. High five.... we did it again.
For the life of me, I couldn't think of a Z song but then "Zing went the strings of my heart" jumped into my head. Don't now if that was a name of a song or just a phrase in one. We used to quickstep to it.

    1. High fives straight back at ya' Yes that is a song title although it was better known as The Trolley Song and I suspect it precedes the 1960s but it's a great tune and now I'm singing it to myself.

  14. Congratulations on making it all the way to another finish line, and in such style, too. I LOVE "Zippedy Doo Dah", and the movie it came from, too... "Song of the South". It's a shame the politically correct powers that be decided that movie wasn't "proper" for children to see. I think my grandchildren would love it as much as I did.

  15. Now, *that* was a challenge! Thanks for all the songs and great memories this month.

Congrats on getting to the finish line.

  16. Zounds! We got there! By the skin of my teeth once or twice, but all that remains now is to write the summary. Well done Ros! ps - it's the first version of zippetty doo dah that I hear - shows my age, doesn't it?
