It's songs beginning with Z
-
And there's just the one lyric snippet to send you off smiling!
1960s: Zippedy Doo Dah - Bob B Soxx and the Blue Jeans
1970s: Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie [Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with weird and gilly...]
1980s: Zoom - Fat Larrie's Band [...just one look and then my heart went boom, suddenly and we were on the moon...]
1990s: Zombie - The Cranberries [...in your head, in your head...]
I could have said lots more things about lots more song lyrics but I'm going to let Bob B Soxx end this extravaganza on a really happy note...
Zippedy Doo Dah
This was originally recorded for a 1946 Disney film called Song of the South. Phil Spector produced this Bob B Soxx rhythm and blues version.
'Zippedy Doo Dah
Zippedy A
My oh my what a wonderful day.
Plenty of sunshine heading my way.
Zippedy Doo Dah
Zippedy A...'
You now have to imagine a cartoon version of me skipping out of shot with bluebirds encircling my head...

I'd like to thank everyone who visited my A to Z this year and a really big thanks to all those who commented. It's been a great month. See you in May.
Well done! Thank you, I really enjoyed your A to Z : )
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed my theme.
DeleteCongrats, Ros! Still finding great songs, even for Z! I love Ziggy Stardust - a classic. I need to check out the Phil Spector version of Zippedy Doo Dah as well - sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteBeen great to read your posts.
Thanks Wayne. The Phil Spector version is a bit cheesy but perfect for this particular event!
DeleteWell done! Woohoo is a perfect summing up! You had a great AtoZ and kept us entertained throughout.. There's a few I've got to catch up on but loved everything I read. I have a vivid imagination and can see those bluebirds..
ReplyDeleteI have mounds of people's A to Zs to catch up with, including yours, Lynne. Woops. Just tripped over a bluebird.
DeleteWell done, Ros!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pippa :-)
DeleteYeah! We're finished! I've loved your A-Z Roz. What a great feel good song Zippedy doo Dah is. I never had a grandpa and always wanted Burl Ives to be mine he was so nice in that film.
ReplyDeleteHere's to a wee rest after our busy month.
Thanks, Anne. I had Zippedy Doo Dah before I planned any of the rest of it! Rest! Huh! Chance would be a fine thing.
DeleteGreat choice I chose the first one for my Z post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a wonderful month making our journey through the alphabet.
Yvonne.
Thanks Yvonne, I will catch up on the visiting and pop round to see you asap!
DeleteWell done, Ros - you've earned a long sit down. With cake.
ReplyDeleteOuch! Ouch! *sound of you pulling my arm up my back* If you insist then I shall eat cake!
DeleteAll great songs. Well done with your challenge results, which I found very entertaining.

Thank you, Francene. I'm so glad you found it entertaining. I've thoroughly enjoyed it myself!
DeleteWell done! We've made it. Great songs, except now I have zippedy doo dah stuck in my head, thanks for that ;)
ReplyDeleteSorry about the song Kate, but now I have Shania singing "looks like we've made it, look how far we've come now..." in my head!
DeleteWell done Ros! You did a really good A-Z, another year in the bag!
ReplyDeleteYay! We've both got there, didn't we :-)
DeleteHi Ros .. well done .. great Z choices .. I was thinking of We are Going to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo .. nearly fits!
ReplyDeleteZappeti Doo Dah, or Zippedy Doo Dah .. I'll be scissor-dance hopping mentally too!! I hope the tune distances itself sometime soon ...
Cheers enjoy a zizz .. we have warm sunshine here .. but still cold! Hilary
Scissor-dance! That I must see! It's freezing here but never mind. The daffs are out :-)
DeleteI LOVE Zippedy Doo Dah! It's one of those songs like Singin' In The Rain that once you start singing it you can't stop :) Great choice for Z!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susanna, it has got a feel good factor to it, hasn't it.
DeleteYou have some fantastic z songs today.
ReplyDeleteKatie atBankerchick Scratchings
Thanks Katie :-)
DeleteI was wondering what you would come up with for Z. High five.... we did it again.
ReplyDeleteFor the life of me, I couldn't think of a Z song but then "Zing went the strings of my heart" jumped into my head. Don't now if that was a name of a song or just a phrase in one. We used to quickstep to it.
High fives straight back at ya' Yes that is a song title although it was better known as The Trolley Song and I suspect it precedes the 1960s but it's a great tune and now I'm singing it to myself.
DeleteCongratulations on making it all the way to another finish line, and in such style, too. I LOVE "Zippedy Doo Dah", and the movie it came from, too... "Song of the South". It's a shame the politically correct powers that be decided that movie wasn't "proper" for children to see. I think my grandchildren would love it as much as I did.
ReplyDeleteNow, *that* was a challenge! Thanks for all the songs and great memories this month.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on getting to the finish line.

Z is for Zzz-z-z... and an SOS
The Daille-y News
Zounds! We got there! By the skin of my teeth once or twice, but all that remains now is to write the summary. Well done Ros! ps - it's the first version of zippetty doo dah that I hear - shows my age, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteZiggy Stardust is one of my favorite songs ever. "He took it all too far, but boy could he play guitar."
ReplyDeleteI've really enjoyed your theme, such fun! Congratulations on a great challenge!
Zip-I-di-do-da Indeed. Excellent A-Z and a fun month for singing along.
ReplyDeleteGreat choices.
Congrats, Rosalind, I have enjoyed your A to Z so very much.
ReplyDeleteNow I have Zippedy Doo Dah going through my head:) Fun post. Thanks for the an interesting tour in the A-Z!!
ReplyDeleteNow that song is stuck in my head... but at least it's a happy song! Congrats on completing the Challenge!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing such an interesting and well-thought-out set of posts. And many thanks for all your comments on my posts. They've given me plenty to think about. ~Miriam
