Unidentified Flying Objects

I have not spoken about this event since soon after it happened but it's on my mind a lot so I decided to share it. I know that people will think I’m being silly, hysterical, that I’m blogging about UFO alien invasions but I’m not. This happened almost two months ago so I’ve had plenty of time to think about it and I know what I saw. It was about 10 pm on Saturday 1st December 2012. Mr A and myself were getting a lift home from a charity quiz evening with friends. None of us had been drinking. We were just approaching our house when our friend, who was driving, said,

“What on earth is that?” He slowed to a halt and peered up through the windscreen. Then we got out of the car, stood and gawped as three red objects moved across the sky. They were making no noise. There were no familiar aeroplane-style flashing lights, just a dull red light. They were aeroplane shaped but no wings were visible. As we stood and watched them, a fourth one appeared. They were all moving in the same direction from North to South high above our heads. They were not bobbing like a Chinese lantern might have done and at no time did we hear any engine sounds.

I have to admit that it seriously scared me. I have nightmares about drones zooming in to attack me and I spent a good part of the night with the light on. I rang my friends the next morning to see what they thought about it in the cold light of day.

“Chinese lanterns,” they said. “It had to be Chinese lanterns.”

Sorry to disagree but these were definitely not little paper lanterns with a candle burning inside. Neither, I suspect, were they alien invaders. Both Mr A and myself think that they have something to do with the military, some kind of testing, a new kind of drone flying with engines down and no flashing lights. Whatever they are, I can’t get them out of my mind.

Have you ever seen anything that has no logical explanation?

  1. How very spooky, Ros. I have never seen anything odd in the sky, but I know there are thousands who have. If I had to take a guess, I'd agree with you. Military testing of UFO's, even. Who knows what they do? That's something that troubles me. The difference between what those who serve us all are supposed to do and what they actually do.

  2. You and Mr A are probably right, but it seems odd that this would be happening at 10pm on a Saturday night. Let us know if you find out more details, and try not to worry. With your super sleuth skills you'll get to the bottom of this.

  3. Rosalind,
Thanks for sharing this. WOW.... I think you were witness to either the military or yes, outer space visitors. That is one of my passions and after extensive reading on the subject of aliens, I am convinced they live among us. I also read that the military is far, far advanced to what the media enlightens us with. I have always wanted to see something like you saw, but I never have. Lucky Duck you are

  5. Seriously cool and spooky! It does sound like a military type operation to me - we're not privy to their new technologies, experiements and ideas for a very long time usually. There are probably lots of rational explanations, but it's kind of fun to play 'what if' as well!

  6. There's so much we don't know both about the military and if there are aliens around or not. I hope your fear has subsided.

  8. Hi Ros .. and obviously no mention in the local paper? or local news? Very strange ... I've seen odd things - but not near enough to question or query ... I wonder what?!

Just about the time they were deciding if Richard III is buried in your carpark .. I see the programme is on C4 on 4th Feb .... will enjoy that ... another mystery perhaps solved ... I wonder if your UFOs will take 7 centuries?

Cheers and relax if you can ... Hilary

  9. I believe that there are military aircraft we know nothing of. Thing is, I live so close to the airport that I ignore anything I see round here.

  10. Yes. One night two years ago while walking my fur peeps I was watching the stars. One moved upward at high speed and disappeared. I will never forget it.

    Hugs and chocolate,

  11. Wow! Quite an experience. I've never seen anything like that. The only thing I ever witnessed that defied all logic was my son marrying his first wife... (HA!) Just kidding.

  12. I've seen UFOs often, especially while from tents while trekking in the hills -- the skies are clearer. We aren't alone. :)

  13. I think if aliens were visiting as often as "sightings" would suggest, they'd have contacted us by now. If they were really alien craft, surely their technology would be sophisticated enough for them to remain invisible if they wanted to. There'll be an earthbound explanation - you've just not found it yet. If you're still worried, write it out into a story.

  17. Thanks for all your comments here. There seem to be a whole lot of people who have seen unidentified objects up there but I suspect we'll never find out what they really are. It will have to remain one of life's many mysteries and to those who have said it would make a good story idea, I think it's possibly too far fetched for fiction but isn't that often the case with the truth.
